Camp Rock, a music-filled Disney Channel Original Movie, features the Jonas Brothers as members of a leading musical group, Connect 3. When member Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) needs to counter his bad boy rocker image, he is sent by his fellow band members Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas) to the music camp as a guest instructor. There he meets camper Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), a teen girl with an extraordinary voice and a driving ambition to be a pop singer but unfortunately she can only spend her summer at the expensive camp by helping her mom work in the mess hall between classes. When Shane overhears Mitchie singing from behind closed doors, he sets out to find the girl with the beautiful voice.

LYRICS:
I’ve always been the kind of girl
That hid my face
So afraid to tell the world
What I’ve got to say
But I have this dream
Bright inside of me
I’m gonna let it show, it’s time
To let you know
To let you know
This is real, this is me
I’m exactly where I’m suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I’ve found, who I am
There’s no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
Do you know what it’s like
To feel so in the dark
To dream about a life
Where you’re the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it’s too far away
I have to believe in myself
It’s the only way
This is real, This is me
I’m exactly where I’m suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I’ve found, who I am
There’s no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
You’re the voice I hear inside my head
The reason that I’m singing
I need to find you, I gotta find you
You’re the missing piece I need
The song inside of me
I need to find you, I gotta find you
This is real, this is me
I’m exactly where I’m suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I’ve found, who I am
There’s no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
You’re the missing piece I need
The song inside of me (this is me)
You’re the voice I hear inside my head
The reason that I’m singing
Now I’ve found, who I am
There’s no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me. ..

LyRics:
Everytime I think I’m closer to the heart
Of what it means to know just who I am
I think I’ve finally found a better place to start
But no one ever seems to understand
I need to try to get to where you are
Could it be, your not that far..
You’re the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I’m singing
I need to find you
I gotta find you
You’re the missing piece I need, the song inside of me
I need to find you
I gotta find you
You’re the remedy I’m searching hard to find
To fix the puzzle that I see inside
Painting all my dreams the color of your smile
When I find you it will be alright
I need to try to get to where you are
Could it be, your not that far
You’re the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I’m singing
I need to find you
I gotta find you
You’re the missing piece I need, the song inside of me
I need to find you
I gotta find you
Been feeling lost, can’t find the words to say
Spending all my time stuck in yesterday
Where you are is where I want to be
Oh next to you… and you next to me
Oh I need to find you… yeah!..
You’re the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I’m singing
I need to find you
I gotta find you (yeah)
You’re the missing piece I need, the song inside of me
I need to find you
I gotta find you…
You’re the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I’m singing
I need to find you (I need to find you)
I gotta find you (I gotta find you)
You’re the missing piece I need, the song inside of me
I need to find you
I gotta find you….Yeah, yeah… I gotta find you..

Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne Whibley (born September 27, 1984), better known by her birth name of Avril Lavigne (pronounced /ˈævrɨl ləˈviːn/), is a Canadian Grammy Award-nominated rock singer, songwriter, fashion designer, and actress. In 2006, Canadian Business Magazine ranked her the seventh most powerful Canadian in Hollywood.
Lavigne’s debut album, Let Go, was released in 2002. Over 16 million copies were sold worldwide and it was certified six times platinum in the United States. Her second and third albums sold less well, Under My Skin (2004) at over 9 million copies and The Best Damn Thing (2007) currently over 5.3 million copies; the latter reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. Lavigne has scored six number one songs worldwide and a total of eleven top ten hits, including “Complicated”, “Sk8er Boi”, “I’m With You”, “My Happy Ending” and “Girlfriend,” which became #1 hits in the ARC Top 40.In December 2007, Lavigne was ranked at #7 in the Forbes “Top 20 Earners Under 25″, with annual earnings of $12 million.Currently, Avril Lavigne has sold about 30 million albums worldwide.
Let Go (2002–2003)
Main article: Let Go (Avril Lavigne album)
Let Go was released on June 4, 2002 in the United States, it has reached number two there and number one in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This made Lavigne, at seventeen, the youngest female soloist to have a number-one album in the UK up until that time. The album shows definite pop rock roots; however, alternative and post-grunge influences can be heard in some of the songs.
Just over one month after its release, Let Go reached multi-platinum status in late-August,and was certified triple platinum two weeks after.Four singles from the album were released. The first single, “Complicated” went to number one in Australia, while reaching number two on the U.S. Hot 100, and it was one of the best-selling Canadian singles of 2002. Lavigne tied a record set by Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” when “Complicated” held the number one spot on the contemporary hit radio chart (which tracks air play on the radio) for eleven weeks in a row.”Sk8er Boi” reached the top ten in the U.S. and Australia, “I’m With You” reached the top ten in the U.S and the UK, and “Losing Grip” reached the top ten in Taiwan and the top twenty in Chile.
Lavigne was named “Best New Artist” at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, won four Juno Awards in 2003 (out of six nominations), received a World Music Award for “World’s Best-Selling Canadian Singer”, and was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year” for “Complicated” and “Best New Artist”.
Under My Skin (2004–2006)
Main article: Under My Skin
Lavigne’s second album, Under My Skin, was released on May 25, 2004, in the U.S. It debuted at number one in the U.S., the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Ireland, Thailand, Korea and Hong Kong and sold more than 380,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week.Lavigne wrote most of the album with Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, though some tracks were co-written by Ben Moody (formerly of Evanescence), Butch Walker of Marvellous 3, her former lead guitarist Evan Taubenfeld, and her former drummer Matt Brann. Kreviazuk’s husband, Our Lady Peace front man Raine Maida, co-produced the album with Butch Walker and Don Gilmore.
This album has a stronger alternative feel, along with songs showing punk-pop edges (such as He Wasn’t and I Always Get what I Want), or soft post-grunge sounds (Freak Out and Who Knows).
Lead single “Don’t Tell Me” went to number one in Argentina and Mexico, the top five in the UK and Canada, and the top ten in Australia and Brazil. “My Happy Ending” went to number one in Mexico and it reached the top ten in the U.S. making it her third-biggest hit there, but third single “Nobody’s Home” did not make the top forty in the U.S., and it only went to number one in Mexico and Argentina. The fourth single from the album, “He Wasn’t”, reached top forty positions in the UK and Australia, and was not released in the U.S.[32] “Fall to Pieces” was released as the final single from the album, but did not do as well as previous singles.
The Best Damn Thing (2007–present)
Main article: The Best Damn Thing
Lavigne in Hong Kong, 2007.Lavigne’s third album, The Best Damn Thing, was released on April 17, 2007 and debuted at number one in the U.S. The album was produced by Dr. Luke, Lavigne’s husband Deryck Whibley, Rob Cavallo, Butch Walker and Lavigne. Travis Barker recorded drums for the record. The first single from the album was “Girlfriend”, which became Lavigne’s first single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. On Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Lavigne said that “When You’re Gone” would be the second single. Lavigne’s third single from the album is “Hot”. The fourth and final single of the album is “The Best Damn Thing”.
“Girlfriend” has been used as the theme song for the Japanese idol hosted talk show Cartoon KAT-TUN. On May 2, 2007, she made a guest appearance during the show. She played a game of darts with the KAT-TUN group.
Lavigne has been doing a small tour to promote The Best Damn Thing, with tickets available only to members of her fan club. She began the tour in Calgary, Alberta, and played for a crowd of around two hundred. This show was aired on television on April 2, 2007, on the CBC Network. The album had sold a total of 5.1 million copies worldwide in by December 2007. Avril is currently on her tour “The Best Damn Tour” promoting the album and traveling the world. The tour will end in September after the Japan and China tour dates.
Personal life
In the January 2003 issue of Seventeen magazine, she admitted to “snagging a bite of Matt’s cheeseburgers every now and again.” She said also she prefers not to eat meat, but will not say she’s a vegetarian “in case anyone caught her eating meat”.
Lavigne has a star tattooed on the inside of her left wrist that matches the style of the one used for her first album artwork. It was created at the same time as friend and musical associate Ben Moody’s identical tattoo. In late 2004, she had a small pink heart-shaped tattoo featuring the letter ‘D’ applied to her right wrist, which represents her now husband Deryck Whibley.
In February 2004, she began dating fellow Canadian singer Deryck Whibley, the lead singer/guitarist of punk band Sum 41. On June 27, 2005, Lavigne and Whibley became engaged.[69] Whibley proposed to Lavigne by surprising her with a trip to Venice, a gondola ride, and then a romantic picnic.
The couple married in a Catholic ceremony attended by about 110 guests on July 15, 2006 at a private estate in Montecito, California. When asked if they were ready for kids the couple said “not right now but somewhere down the road.”
Avril once said in an interview that her favorite party song is “Hey Ya”, by Outkast. She likes listening to Third Eye Blind, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down and Blink-182, and loves especially the track “I Miss You”. Asked what she would put on a mix tape to a boy she liked, Avril answered: “Iris”, by Goo Goo Dolls. I’d put a few Coldplay and Oasis songs. Radiohead — The Bends is one of my favorite albums.”.

The majority of Paramore’s recordings come from collaborations between lead vocalist Hayley Williams and lead guitarist Josh Farro — Farro first writes the music, afterwards taking it to Williams for a melody and lyrics, and from that point the song worked out between the two. Once the foundation is laid out, the remaining band members help to work on sound and arrangement. The duo’s songwriting has had its critics, being called “contrastly cliched and weak at points”. while others have said the songs are “ridiculously catchy” and “sing-a-long worthy”.
Riot! (2007–present)
In January 2006 they were a part of the Winter Go West Tour where they played alongside Seattle bands Amber Pacific and The Lashes, and in February, Williams’ vocals were featured on “Keep Dreaming Upside Down” by October Fall. In the spring 2006, Paramore was an opening act on headlining tours for both Bayside and soon afterwards, The Rocket Summer. They toured the United Kingdom from October 5 to October 15, 2006, where they ended in London at The Mean Fiddler. The band then covered Foo Fighters’ “My Hero” for the Sound of Superman soundtrack which was released on June 26, 2006. During the summer of 2006, Paramore played a portion of Warped Tour, primarily on the Volcom and Hurley Stages, and their first night on the Main Stage was at a date in their hometown of Nashville. Paramore’s first United States headlining tour began on August 2, 2006 to a sold-out audience with support from This Providence, Cute Is What We Aim For, and Hit the Lights with the final show in Nashville. That year they were voted “Best New Band”, and Williams as #2 “Sexiest Female”, by readers of the British magazine Kerrang!.
In 2007, Paramore was named by British magazine NME as one of ten bands to watch out for in their “New Noise 2007″ feature. In January, the band played an acoustic set for the grand opening of a Warped Tour exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the dress Williams wore in the video for “Emergency” was also put onto display in the exhibit. Paramore was featured in Kerrang! magazine once more, however, Williams believed the article was an untrue portrayal of the band, particularly because it focused on her as the main component. Afterwards, Williams addressed the issue in the band’s LiveJournal, with a post saying, “we could’ve done without a cover piece. sorry, if it offends anyone at Kerrang! but i don’t think there was one bit of truth in that article.” In April, Williams’ vocals were featured in “Then Came To Kill” by The Chariot. They headlined a tour in early 2007 with This Providence, The Almost and Love Arcade.
Paramore began recording their second album Riot! in January 2007, ending production in March, without the guitar of Hunter Lamb (who left the band early in 2007 to get married); without Lamb, lead guitarist Farro was required to play both guitar parts on the album.Lamb has since been replaced by guitarist Taylor York, who had been in a band with the Farro brothers before the two met Williams, as temporary member for the duration of touring. After being courted by producers Neal Avron and Howard Benson, Paramore opted to record Riot! with New Jersey producer David Bendeth (Your Vegas, Breaking Benjamin), releasing the album on June 12, 2007. Riot! entered the Billboard 200 at number 20, the UK charts at number 24, and sold 44,000 its first week in the United States. The name Riot! had been chosen because it meant “a sudden outburst of uncontrolled emotion”, and it was a word that “summed it all up”. The first single from the album, released June 21, 2007, “Misery Business”, is, according to Williams, “more honest than anything I’ve ever written, and the guys matched that emotion musically”. Paramore was featured on the cover of February 2008 issue of Alternative Press magazine and voted “Best Band Of 2007″ by the readers. The band was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards presented on February 10, 2008 but lost to Amy Winehouse. Early 2008 saw Paramore touring the United Kingdom, supporting their album Riot!, along with New Found Glory, Kids in Glass Houses and Conditions. In early February 2008, the band began a tour in Europe, however on February 21, 2008, the band announced that they had cancelled 6 shows due to personal issues. Williams wrote on the band’s web site that “the break will give that band ‘a chance to get away and work out our personal issues’”. Mtv.com reported that fans of Paramore were speculating about the future of the band and reported rumours of trouble had been began earlier in the month when Josh Farro expressed his anger against the media’s focus on Williams. The band, however, returned to their hometown to record the music video for the fourth single “That’s What You Get”, which was then released on March 24, 2008.
The band toured with Jimmy Eat World in the United States in April and May 2008. The band headlined the Give It A Name festival in the United Kingdom on May 10 and May 11, 2008. Also the band performed on the In New Music We Trust Stage at Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in Mote Park, Kent on May 10, 2008. Paramore will have their debut Irish performance at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland on June 2, 2008. Also, Paramore will perform at the 2008 Vans Warped Tour from July 1- July 6, 2008.
On MTV’S TRL, May 7, 2008, lead singer, Hayley Williams said that the band was working on a new album, and that it would hopefully be released by next summer. Hayley says she and the band have been practising the new songs during the sound checks on tour.[citation needed] In an Alternative Press cover story, Zac Farro speculated on a forthcoming album, saying that it would sound like bands Mew, Thrice, and Arcade Fire.
On May 19, Paramore announced on their website that they will be going on tour again, the tour being named “The Final RIOT! Tour” and starting July 25 and ending September 1. On this tour, the band performed part of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
On September 2 Paramore released a collaboration hoodie along with Hurley Clothing based on the album Riot!. All proceeds will go to the Love146 Foundation.
Paramore will be touring in Mexico and Brazil in October. Paramore’s new song “Decode” will be the lead single for the novel-based Twilight film. Another song, currently unnamed, will also be featured on the film’s soundtrack.
Alternative Press and various other reviewers have noted that the band’s stage performances have helped boost them to larger fame. Alternative Press states that Williams “has more charisma than singers twice her age, and her band aren’t far behind in their chops, either.” Singer-songwriter John Mayer had praised William’s voice in a blog in October 2007, calling her “The great orange hope”; “orange” in reference to her hair color.Because of the female fronted aspect of the band, Paramore has gained comparisons to Kelly Clarkson and the afore mentioned Avril Lavigne, to which one reviewer said was “sorely unfounded.”Reviewer Jonathan Bradley noted that “Paramore attacks its music with infectious enthusiasm,” however, he also explained that “there isn’t a whole lot of difference between Riot! and the better songs from Kelly Clarkson or Avril Lavigne.” A reviewer at NME had likened Paramore’s sound to that of “No Doubt (stripped of all the ska bollocks)” and “Kelly Clarkson’s wildest dreams”. Williams has gone on to comment about the female aspect of the band saying that Paramore is not “this girl-fronted band” and it makes “music for people to enjoy music, not so people can talk about my sexuality”.
Paramore has expressed their influence for creating the band and their music had come from appreciation for Jimmy Eat World, Chicago, Sunny Day Real Estate, Death Cab for Cutie and Failure; Williams citing her personal influences as Robert Smith of The Cure and Etta James. Williams explained that bands such as U2, “who are massive, and do whatever they want, write whatever they want and they stand for something”, Jimmy Eat World, “who I don’t think ever disappoint their fans,” and No Doubt, who “have done amazing things,” act as a pattern for the path in which Paramore would like to take their career.
In an interview with the BBC, Josh Farro stated “Our faith is very important to us. It’s obviously going to come out in our music because if someone believes something then their worldview is going to come out in anything they do. But we’re not out here to preach to kids, we’re out here because we love music.”

The Notebook
“Behind every great love is a great story..”
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands, James Garner, Joan Allen, James Marsden, Heather Wahlquist, David Thornton, Jamie Brown, Kevin Connolly, Nancy De Mayo, Sylvia Jefferies, Eve Kagan, Lindy Newton, Sam Shepard, Meredith Zealy
Director: Nick Cassavetes
This Article is written by Britt Gillette
Adapted to screen from the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, The Notebook is one of the best romantic dramas to hit the big screen in decades. Garnering high marks from a wide-range of critics, The Notebook is a funny and emotional film which deals with love, relationships, and the risks people take. James Garner turns in a notable performance as the elder man, Duke, who reads the pages of his notebook to dying nursing home resident Allie (Gena Rowlands). Overall, this is a classic “chick flick” with a dramatic twist. Set in the World War II era, The Notebook is a great film…
Duke (James Garner) regularly reads from the pages of a notebook to an older woman in a nursing home. Suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, her memories of the parts which he’s read in the past appears and disappears without order, but Duke continues to read to her because of their deep and enduring friendship.
The notebook’s story centers around the lives of a teenage boy and girl who meet at a carnival in the late-1930s. At first, Allie Hamilton doesn’t know what to think of Noah Calhoun, but she soon gives into his insistence that they go out on a date. When Noah and Allie fall deeply in love, Allie’s parents try to break up the couple. The Hamiltons are rich, and Noah and his father are from the poor side of town. Nevertheless, Allie and Noah are determined to be together.
When World War II breaks out, Noah is sent into conflict. He writes numerous letters to his love, but they go unanswered because Allie’s parents are hiding the letters as well as her replies to Noah. After several years apart, Allie becomes engaged to successful businessman. But after reading a newspaper article concerning Noah’s restoration of a historic home he once promised her, she decides to go visit him.
Allie’s visit with Noah turns both their worlds upside down when they learn the truth about the letters. Now, Allie must choose between the fiancée she truly loves and the man who is her real true love…
Actor Ryan Gosling is entertaining and likeable in his portrayal of the young and energetic Noah Calhoun. The Notebook as a film is better served by featuring his superb talents. Likewise, up-and-coming actress Rachel McAdams is brilliant in her role as Allie. The emotions of her young romance are clearly conveyed by a natural and instinctive penchant for delivering her lines in just the right way. Call it onscreen charisma or whatever, but McAdams is one to look out for in the future.
In short, The Notebook is as good a film as it is as a book. Few books translate onto the big screen as well as they read in print, so The Notebook is to be heralded for its ability to do so. Charming and easy to like, the film glorifies the romance of a young couple who find true love - a love that lasts forever. Well-produced and featuring some amazing shots of natural locations, The Notebook ranks as a definite must-see film. Do yourself a favor and go see it today…

Serious, conservative, and daughter of the town’s church minister, Jamie (Moore) is as far from cool as she can possibly be, and doesn’t care - she knows where she is going and what she wants to do with her life. Struggling with the lines of the school play, Landon is forced to ask Jamie for help. In spending time together, Landon learns to worry less about what others think of him and more about doing what he feels is right. The two become friends and a relationship develops. However, Jamie has a very big secret she must keep from Landon - one that will get in the way of their romance and destroy their future together.
The “cool kid meets misfit and falls in love” story has been done many times, but this is a fine example of the genre. Both West and Moore produce likeable characters with depth. They also make the most of the script, which has a twist or two which makes it stand out from the crowd. Starting out as a lightweight teen movie, it develops into a fine right-of-passage fable which is surprisingly worthwhile.

What is emo and what does emo mean?
“You don’t want people to judge you, yet you spend an hour doing your hair and putting on makeup?”
~ Oscar Wilde on contradictions of the emo ideology
Emo (from Latin: “to buy, purchase”, pronounced eeee-moe) is a type of subculture (rather distinctly from the 21st Century) loosely rooted around punk rock with its own distinct style of music, fashion, argot and other trappings in a desperate, though ultimately hopeless attempt to pronounce their uniqueness. As a rule of thumb, a person described as “emo” (falling under certain behavior mannerisms and attire correlating with the subculture) will often be from a comfortable, middle-class background with understanding, pleasant parents. All of this is irrelevant to an emo who will consider themselves misunderstood and repressed regardless of reality. Any urologist would say that these very emotional people need to be encouraged by the rest of society to help them out of this state of existing, or technically not existing.
Some people have gone so far to suggest that “emo” originated in the 1980’s, as a way to describe a branch of hardcore punk that appeared in the 1980’s, with “emo” being short for “emotive/emotional hardcore/emoxcore/emocore/whatever,” but these people are liars, as early emocore bands like Fugazi are about as far removed from Dashboard Confessional as is possible, and everybody on the internet knows that “emo” means “angsty kids who take pictures of themselves in a mirror on MySpace.” Because random fat people sitting in their basements have confirmed this, it is generally accepted as true.
Some people believe that “emo” is a subculture which stemmed from goths, which stemmed from the punk culture. This is largely debatable and difficult to prove considering the drastic differences between the “goth” and “emo” subcultures: goths kill kittens, emos cry when kittens are killed. Emos wear tight pants, goths wear tripp pants. By numerous comparisons, those of the emo stereotype have more in common with a chocolate cookie than they do with goths.
Emo clothing is typically black, mixed with smaller amounts of shockingly bright colors, especially, but not limited to, their hair. While emo hair is mostly black as well, there are often flamboyantly bright highlights.
Emos tend to favor one-eyed hair cuts. Some believe this hairstyle to have stemmed from a lack of self-esteem or so that they can look more like God, but it is more commonly believed that they only have one eye.
It is often times very difficult to identify the gender of an emo, and even the emo themself may not be entirely sure of their sex. Many of the emo kind express this by saying they are bisexual. Contrary to popular belief, this is not just a fashion trend; they just cannot decide whether they are male or female.
It is 100% absolutely true that being “emo” constitutes committing self-harm, writing poetry, being depressed, and identifying one’s self as bisexual. There are many other characteristics of the emo subculture, but further research is needed to accurately describe them.
When roaming outside of their homes, they can be found at their local high school amongst their peers. In this environment, the emo’s natural predator is the jock. They’re also commonly found roaming the local mall in abundance, specifically around Hot Topic and stores near it. In order to go past this area, a gas mask and earmuffs are required. Don’t ask why! Just do it! Emos will often attend a concert (referred to as a “show”), standing completely still. Homoeroticism may ensue, so if you ever find yourself in this position, get the fuck out!

What is Punk?
“Some guy once asked me, ‘What’s punk?’ and I kicked over a trash can and said, ‘That’s punk’. So then he kicked over a trash can and asked, ‘Is that punk?’ and I said, ‘No, that’s trendy’.” ~ Oscar Wilde
“I hate you, Dad!”
Such words uttered by nearly any member of the punk subculture, almost all of those involved have an issue with their parents and/or whole family. One particularly punk rock individual was Chris Benoit, who took it to the next level by.. well.. ya know.
Another attribute of the typical punk rocker is to bathe as little as possible. Women in particular adopt this attribute then take it even further by letting their body hair grow to lengths that rival even the hairiest eastern European men not unlike their arch-nemeses,the hippies who from the time of woodstock have also grown their body hair.
Often times they choose the lifestyle of a homeless person, even though they have a cell phone and a credit card backed by their rich parents tucked away deeply in the depths of their ragged clothing.
I had read this article written by Denise shively;
THE PUNK WAY OF LIFE
The punk subculture isn’t merely a fashion statement, but rather an attitude and a way of life for many people.
How It Began
Originally, the punk movement came about as a way for people to express their views towards political and social issues. The outrageous clothing and hairstyles were indicative of the youthful rebellion at the time, and stood as a way for punks to differentiate themselves from the masses.
Punk bands carried with them a message of anti-authority, and as the movement progressed, people increasingly began to flock to the punk ideology as never before. Before Hot Topic opened in malls everywhere, punk was about attitude. It wasn’t about garnering attention from your peers. At least, that’s how one argument goes.
The Other Side
Still others care to argue that punk shouldn’t be about labels to begin with. The “punk clothing” so prevalent in today’s youth, rather than be an indicator of rebellion or anti-establishment, should merely be looked upon as a fashion statement.
This nonchalant way of thinking seems to anger many “true punks” who adopted the culture as a way of life, not simply to look cool in front of their friends. However, that begs the question: how do you define a “true” punk from a mere poser?
The Labels Associated with the Punk Movement
When did the meaning of punk become so skewed between the 1970’s and today? As the culture has blended into the mainstream, many people have seemed to lose sight of what the original movement truly meant to begin with.
What makes a person punk, anyway? Tattoos? Drug use? Does a true punk need to be offensive, mean and degrading - just for the sake of doing so? Wait, what about mohawks, liberty spikes and outrageous hair colors? Does sporting purple locks make someone punk?
Then of course, there are the so-called “fashionistas” who seem to dress up in punk clothing because of the cool factor. Do fishnet stockings, fingerless gloves and a snarl make you punk?
Staying True
As punk music and the culture becomes increasingly embraced into the mainstream, the line between true originality and copy cat clones will blur. Punk was never intended to be strictly about the fashion; rather, it was an ideology, and truthfully, a way of life.
There are no rules to follow to be “punk.” Think for yourself, don’t attempt to follow the latest trends just because they’re there, and wear what you want. Why? Because true punks don’t care about looking good or fitting in with everyone else.
Punk isn’t just a fashion statement…
**Its not bad to be a punk kid..you know… hehehe..:)

What is Gothic?
what does gothic mean in regards to the group of people? Here’s where it gets confusing. There are things that many Goths like that are not gothic (Industrial or Classical music). There are things that are gothic that many Goths dislike (vampires, interest in death). There are things that some people think are gothic that are not gothic (bands like Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails), and there are things that do not call themselves gothic even if they are considered gothic by most people (bands like Sisters of Mercy and Dead Can Dance). However, there’s no Grand Gothic Judge to decree what is truly Goth and what is not, although there are plenty of people who claim to be it. It’s an ambiguous label with many people using it that don’t understand what it means. The people who do understand it often have many different definitions.
